AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES
Munster Final – Limerick Senior Hurlers
What a great day for Limerick hurling with the seniors adding a Munster title to their name, while already holding the National League and All-Ireland trophies. Huge congrats to the Limerick squad and management on a terrific performance against a Tipperary side which we dominated throughout. The occasion was made all the more special given we had Dan and Tom Morrissey playing a huge part throughout at wing-back and wing-forward respectively, both contributing massively to the success on the day with Tom adding 4 points sides large tally of 2-26 to Tipperary’s 2-14.
Well done to all. We can all look forward to a return to Croke Park in 4 weeks’ time for the All-Ireland semi-final.
Munster Final – Limerick Minor Hurlers
The minors will join the seniors on All-Ireland semi-final day in Croke Park following their deserved 6 point win over Clare in the Munster minor final by 1-17 to 1-11. In a game where Limerick were slow to get going, they eventually got into their flow and showed their strength to over-power Clare. Ahead by 0-9 to 0-7 at half time having played with the breeze at their backs, some great scores followed in the second period. Huge praise must be given to the two Ahane players in Adam Murrihy and Cian Casey who played such massive roles in the side over the course of the Munster championship. Adam lined out at centre back against Clare and Cian, unlucky not to start, came in during the second half and played his part. Role on 4 weeks’ time as the lads look forward to the trip from Mackey Park to Croke Park to showcase their skills. Well done.
Limerick U20 Hurling
Wishing Ciaran Barry and the Limerick team the very best of luck as they take on Cork in Pairc Uí Rinn in their opening fixture on Wednesday evening, 3rd of July at 19:30. Again, it is great to have another Ahane representative on a strong Limerick team.
