AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES

Limerick 0-21 Tipperary 1-22 (SENIOR)

Hard luck to the seniors who lost out to Tipperary in their final group game in the Munster championship. Result elsewhere meant that Limerick still qualified for the final where the same sides will meet again on the 30th of June in the LIT Gaelic Grounds at 2pm. Well done to Tom and Dan Morrissey who played pivotal roles as always in the green, with Tom scoring 3 superb second half points.

Best of luck to the lads in the final as they seek their first Munster Senior Championship medal.

Limerick 3-24 Tipperary 1-15 (MINOR)

The minors 15 point victory against Tipperary in their fourth group game sealed their place in the Final where they will face a Clare side whom they beat a week ago. In what was a dominant performance from start to finish, Ahane minor Adam Murrihy ruled the roost at left half back, while club-mate Cian Casey caused Tipperary endless problems at centre forward, scoring two points and setting up numerous others. Best of luck to the lads in the Munster Final which will be played before the senior game Be sure to plan to get to the games early and support the minors remembering the earlier throw-in time of 11:30am (in case of extra time.)

U6 Hurling Blitz – first outing of the season

The U6 hurling and camogie players had their first blitz of the season last week with Murroe-Boher visiting Lisnagry NS. Under the guidance of Mr. Paul Kennedy, all the players have been practicing their hurling and camogie skills over recent weeks and the blitz turned into a fun filled evening of thrills and wonderful skills with loads of entertainment for all the players and the large number of parents and supporters. Well done to all who helped to ensure everyone went home with smiles on their faces (especially the 6o+ players from both clubs) – thanks to Elaine for taking care of the fruit for the children.

Mackey Cup presentation – Ahane players

Congratulations to East Limerick Division and all the players who received their Mackey Cup hurling medals last evening in the Millennium Centre Caherconlish. A special mention goes to our Ahane Bord na nOg players – Cathal, James, Jack, John and Conor – who were part of the successful squad and who were presented with their medals and got to meet some of the Limerick Senior Hurling team (Dan, Tom, Barry, Darragh and Pat). Well done to George Lee, Pa Ryan and Kevin Raftery who continue to support hurling in the local schools in Ahane and also to Ollie Coffey and Jonathan Dervan for their fantastic efforts with the players over the course of the games.Ahane GAA Club and all in Bord na nOg wish our club players Dan and Tom and all the Limerick squad all the very best when they face Tipperary in Thurles on Sunday. Congratulations to Lisnagry NS – Leader Cup 15-a-side Champions

Ahane GAA Club and all involved in Bord na nOg congratulate the boys and mentors in Lisnagry National School on their fantastic achievement in capturing the Leader Cup for 2019 yesterday afternoon. The Lisnagry NS squad set off to Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale yesterday for the semi-final and final day of the competition in a very determined fashion after capturing the East title on Monday this week with a fine win over Doon CBS.

The boys turned in a fine display in overcoming South Champions Scoil Dean Cussen in the semi-final and captured the title with a fantastic win over West Champions Mahoonagh NS in the final. There were great scenes of celebration at the final whistle. Well done to every one of the squad on a fantastic achievement and a special thank you to Mr. Feeney / Mr. Raftery for your efforts over the season with the players and to all the parents and those that travelled to games to support the players.

In addition to their fantastic achievements yesterday, a few of the players had the energy to play in Mackey Park last evening in our U14 Hurling league game v Cappamore. Well done all.
