AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES

Woodlands House Hotel Junior A County Championship
Ahane travelled to Fedamore to take on Camogue Rovers in the first round of the Junior A Football Championship. Camogue Rovers took control of the game and used the strong wind to their advantage to in the first half. The half time score stood as Ahane 0-01 Camogue Rovers 2-15. Ahane did get some good points from Tristan O’Sullivan and Brian Murphy in the second half, which raised the spirits of the Ahane side. However, they left themselves with way too much to do, Camogue Rovers sealed a very convincing win with the final score being Ahane 0-06 Camogue Rovers 4-24.
All Ireland Hurling Final
We are wishing Tom, Dan and the Limerick hurlers the very best of luck as they take on Cork in the All Ireland Hurling Final on Sunday. We are so proud of the two lads, and we are behind them all the way!
Field Committee
Huge thank you to Tony Condon who cut all the grass around both pitches this week to ensure that it is maintained and in top class condition for all our teams. Thanks also to Donal Morrissey and Colm Barry who again lined both pitches this week. Both pitches are looking fantastic, and it is all down to the hard work of our fantastic committee members and volunteers. We have to say a massive thank you to Tony Harnett who is not only our club secretary but also does so much more for the club. Tony used his own ride on mower to cut the entire top pitch yesterday so that our hurling, football, camogie and ladies football players would have the best possible surface to play on as the grass had got very long due to the fertilizer, we put on it a couple of weeks ago and the mower couldn’t keep up with the growth. A huge thank you to Tony for all his hard work! It’s greatly appreciated by all in the club!
Unity Credit Union
We are delighted to have Unity Credit Union on board about this year as our Senior Hurling Team sponsor. Unity have been a great support to the club over the last number of years and we greatly appreciate their support.
Senior Camogie
Huge congratulations to the Senior Camogie team who beat Newcastle West in the League Final on Friday evening. Great to see silverware coming back to Mackey Park.
