AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES

Limerick v Waterford Seniors

Well done to the Limerick seniors who returned to winning ways against Waterford on Sunday last in what was a potentially tricky away game for them. With Dan and Tom lining out in the half-back and half-forward lines respectively as we’ve grown accustomed, Limerick dominated from start to finish, winning comfortably by 2-24 to 0-10.

Attention now turns to their round 4 game versus Clare in the Gaelic Grounds Sunday 9th at 4pm. Best of luck lads!

Limerick v Waterford Minors

Having drawn with Cork in their opening game, Limerick picked up another point in another hard-fought draw against a difficult Waterford side. Limerick, with the aid of the strong breeze in the opening half were frustrated by poor shooting and a congested Waterford end of the field, to only go in two points to the good at the break 0-7 to 0-5. The second half was another low scoring encounter, with every point hard earned. Eventually it was down to marks-man Cathal O’Neill to point from 60m to draw up a game that looked to be slipping away from Limerick.

Well done to Adam Murrihy who started at mid-field, and to Cian Casey who played a large role when he entered the fray with 10 minutes to go. As per the seniors schedule, next up is Clare who are on two wins from two. Good luck to all involved.

Football Boot Initiative at Mackey Park

A new Give a Boot – Take a Boot initiative has been launched at Mackey Park to support anyone who may want to avail of the facility to provide slightly used football boots that perhaps a child may have grown out of /have hardly been worn and if suitable may be used by others in the club. It also happens that children arrive at training or games without their boots so this new initiative might will also come in handy over the coming weeks and months ahead. A big THANK YOU to Siobhan Clifford for launching this novel idea in Mackey Park and we are sure the service will be beneficial to many of the younger players in the club.
