ADARE GAA CLUB NOTES

Adare Bord na nÓg are self-funded and we continue to try and raise funds to pay for the cost of hiring pitches and for all the many many balls that get lost during training. We really appreciate the support we get from our parents and the local community in Adare, thank you. We are running a fun and easy fundraiser for the British Open. Please support if you can.
We had many of our Bord na nÓg teams in action last week and the consistent theme from the boys this week was battling – all teams got stuck in and worked hard to the end of each match.
U17 Hurling Championship
U17 hurlers travelled to Kilfinane on Wednesday to take on Blackrock in the first round of the Championship. It was a hard-fought battle throughout played with honesty and determination by both teams in a true Championship fare. Adare had the better of the first half but by the end of the third quarter Blackrock were firmly in control. Adare regrouped after the second water break and showed incredible heart to fight back and earn a well-deserved draw. A game that could have gone either way, so happy enough with the draw but delighted with the performance from the boys. Plenty more work for this week’s training. Adare sponsored by Pat Collins Bar and Restaurant
U15 Hurlers played a championship match against Newcastle West on Monday Evening and unfortunately lost out to an impressive side. Our boys put in a huge shift and they battled to the very end and the coaches know they will learn and progress from these games. Adare sponsored by Adare Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning. U11 Footballers met with Knockaderry on Tuesday evening last in the Manor Fields. There was a
great battle as always when these two sides meet, and all boys played their hearts out. Due to the numbers that Adare had available the team was split in two and played a half each to ensure fairness to all boys. Adare sponsored by Barber Rooms.
U9 Footballers had a blitz against Dromcollogher/Broadford on Friday evening. 26 boys made the trip and fought hard despite the poor weather conditions. The coaches are seeing great improvement in their skills and it’s clear to see the boys training is really paying off. Adare sponsored by Londis Adare.
U7 Hurlers took part in a blitz in Templeglantine on Saturday morning. 16 boys played and were excellent from start to finish and all worked really hard for their team. Keep up the practicing boys, you are really progressing. Adare sponsored by Nautic Construction Limited.
