NA PIARSAIGH GAA CLUB NOTES
SENIOR HURLERS
Our senior hurlers made it back-to-back victories in the County Senior Hurling Championship over the weekend.
On Saturday night we faced Ballybrown in the Gaelic grounds under lights minus 7 players from last years county final.
Adam McNamara was the latest addition to the list as he struggled to shake off a knock from the previous round.
We began the game very sharply and had points on the board without reply courtesy of Will Henn, David Dempsey , Sean Long and Ronan Lynch. However, by the 10minute we were all square as Ballybrown fought back.
David Dempsey added our fifth before linking up with brother Keith to raise our first green flag.
It was truly Davids quarter as he notched up a further goal and 2 points to bring his first half tally to 2-3. Half time score was Na Piarsaigh 2-12 Ballybrown 0-9
The third quarter we added some further great scores by wing backs Mike Foley and Emmet McEvoy to add to points from Conor Boylan and David Dempsey and a long range free from Ronan Lynch.
In the final quarter we added further good scores from Kevin Downes, Conor Boylan, Sean Long and 2 pointed frees from Ronan and Keith
Our work rate continues to impress with all hands-on deck working hard from start to finish.
Great credit to all concerned for keeping the show so strongly on the road in spite of absentees.
We now await the quarter finals in 2 weeks’ time to determine our semi-final opponents.
