Limerick U20 Hurling
There was disappointment for the u20 hurling side as they went down by 1-20 to 0-16 to a strong Cork side in Paric Úi Rinn on Wednesday last. It was always going to be tough ask for Limerick having to travel to face this fancied Cork side who just proved too strong over the hour. Well done to our Ciaran Barry who played a tough role at full back throughout, especially given the Rebels dominance and ability to setup attacks further out the field. Hard luck to Ciaran and all the players and management involved.
All-Ireland Semi-Final Tickets
Tickets will go on sale through the various outlets (Super Valu/Centra and Tickets.ie) for the upcoming All Ireland Senior Hurling Semi Final on Saturday July 27th. These will go on sale after the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Quarter Finals (probably this day week).
Clubs may request tickets from the County Board which will be processed at the Gaelic Grounds at a date and time to be confirmed.
Adult Stand Tickets will cost – €50
Juvenile Tickets will cost – €5
Terrace – €35
No Juvenile Tickets for the Terrace
Wheelchair Ticket – €25
Accompanied Person – €25
Club Group Tickets for Clubs will be made available to clubs on request(numbers limited).
Ahane v Kiliteely/Dromkeen (Junior Hurling Rmd .3)
Last Saturday evening saw a hugely entertaining and fiercely contested affair between the sides in round 3 of the championship in Cappamore. In a game which was score for score throughout, K/D started the better with a quick counterattack goal. Ahane worked their way back into it with well taken frees from marksman Mike Carr, and a well taken point from young Andy Rowesome. Ahane unfortunately lost Patrick Minihan after 15mins with a hamstring injury having broken out of 3rd gear in a chase for the ball, and was replaced by the youthful, upcoming star Ollie Moran (remember the name). Trailing by a goal approaching halftime, Ahane received a 20m free which Mike Carr mishit to the top corner of the net, leaving the scores at H/T 1-06 apiece.
The 2nd half brought more intensity from Ahane and they dominated for many of the exchanges. While K/D appeared to be successfully relying on breakaways, Ahane worked hard and created some great chances but failed to take many of them. The successful efforts were managed through Ollie Moran, Tommy Clifford and a 2nd point for Andy Rowesome from distance, while big Mike Carr kept the scoreboard ticking over with a series of well-struck frees.
With the game in the balance, K/D broke for a 2nd goal which proved decisive. Ahane fought on valiantly but couldn’t reel in the K/D lead and lost out by 4pts at the finish.
Ahane will feel it was a match they should have won but missed chances don’t appear on the score board.
