U14S Academy:
On Friday night 4th of Oct, a presentation ceremony was held in the Millenium centre for the East Divisional U14s Academy 2024.
This Academy was formed in April and run through to end of August. Training sessions for this group were held on a weekly basis for both hurling and football, with a number of blitzes organised as well.
During the presentation ceremony, training tops were presented to all the players. The gear was presented by Limerick senior hurler Dan Morrissey and Limerick senior footballer Josh Ryan. Dan and Josh kindly shared their experience of their sporting careers with all the players, both of whom participated in Academies at junior levels.
On the evening, a small number of speakers spoke to the attendees: Pat Donnelly – Limerick Coaching Officer, James Ryan – Limerick GDA, Michael Boland – Hurling Academy Coach and John O’Grady – Football Academy Coach.
In order to make the Academy a success a huge number of people assisted in the background, including our sponsor St. Ailbe’s Credit Union. St Ailbe’s CU have always been a phenomenal support for many local activities and they kindly sponsored the Academy playing gear which will be used for future academies, along with the wonderful training tops that this years academy players were presented with on the night.
On behalf, of the East board we would like to thank all of our coaches who have generously given up their time and expertise. The following are the hurling coaches:
Mike Boland, Con Hayes, Jack Franklin and Steve Kelly. Our Football coaches are Richie Coffey, John O’Grady and Diarmuid Sheehy.
Thanks to GDA Coach Eoin O’Mahony for his support with the academy:
Thanks once again to all the staff of the Millenium Centre. The care and attention provided during this ceremony was exemplary and the food provided was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
And finally, a massive thank you to the players and parents of this academy group. They all showed a massive commitment to training week on week and attending blitzes all over the county. Without the support of the parents, this academy would not have been the success that it was.
