Last weekend was indeed a very busy and successful one for our County Senior teams in Munster Championship
On Saturday evening 14th. May, the Senior Footballers were back on the road for the second time in the Munster Senior Football Championship when they travelled to FBD Semple Stadium Thurles to play Tipperay in the Provincial Semi Final. In a game that both sides had aspirations to reach the final on Saturday 28th. May with Kerry awaiting the winners. In a very tight first half, Limerick were the early pacesetters to take an early lead but Tipperary settled and at the half time break it was level Limerick 1.03 Tipperary 0.06. The second saw Limerick pull away in the late stages to score a 2.10 to 0.10 victory and reach the Munster Senior Football Championship final.
It was off to Cusack Park in Ennis on Sunday 15th. May, where Limerick Senior hurlers played Clare in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Round 4 game in front of 18,129, the clash of the Shannonsiders proved to be a very exciting encounter with plenty of drama and talking points. The sides were level on 14 occasions and when the Referee sounded the full time whistle after 73 minutes of play, the scoreboard read An CLAR 0.24 LUIMNEACH 1.21. The result mean that Limerick and Clare will contest the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final where Limerick will be bidding for a fourth Provincial title in a row
Overall a very productive weekend with Limerick reaching the Munster Senior Football and Hurling Finals for the first time since 1934, when they took the Hurling title defeating Waterford in the final and losing out Kerry in the Football decider.
