On New Years Eve 2021, we take a look back at the Championship 2021 which was a very succesful one for Limerick Senior Hurlers, winning the Munster Champioship for the third year in a row and going on to retain the Liam MacCarthy Cup

In this look back (Part 1) we reflect on the Munster Championship, where Limerick played Cork in the Semi Final in Semple Stadium Thurles on Saturday 3rd. July with a very restricted attendance, having defeated Cork earlier in the Allianz League, Limerick went into this game with high hopes of reaching the Provincail decider and they scored a 2.21 to 1.17 win to reach the Final.

Sunday 18th. July, Pairc Ui Caoimh Cork was the venue for the 2021 Cluiche Ceannais Iomanaiochta Sinsear na Mumhan on a very warm afternoon where Tipperary provided the opposition and it was they that dominated the opening half to lead at the interval by 2.16 to 0.12. But things were much different in the second half when Limerick turned game around helped by Goals from Seamus Flanagan and Kyle Hayes to win the game by 2.29 to 3.21 to record their third successive Munster Final victory.

(In Part 2 we will reflect on the All Ireland Semi Final and Final both played in August.)
