This year’s Gaelic Games Player Welfare Conference will take place on Saturday, August 31st at the TUS Athlone Campus. The thematic focus of the event will centre around ‘Optimising ACL Rehabilitation & Return to Play in Gaelic Games’.
The morning programme will focus on the physiology of ACL injury, while the afternoon slot will explore the ACL environment across areas such as Psychology, Nutrition and Gender. The event is free of charge and will feature keynotes from industry experts across a range of specialties related to the field. The target audience for the conference includes Medical and Sports Science Practitioners working in Gaelic Games. Further information can be obtained via the below flyer, and participants can register via this link here – https://shorturl.at/b54S9.
In addition, an educational opportunity has opened for applicants (primarily from a non-medically trained background) in the concussion space. UCD are running a micro-credential course entitled; “Concussion: An Overview for Amateur Sports”. The course is run completely online and several medical experts who are involved in Gaelic Games have had an input into the course content. The course is designed for those involved in amateur sports who want to learn more about concussion, the warning signs to look out for and how to help a player in the post-concussion phase. Places are limited and further information can be found via this link here –
