How does it work?
Next Tuesday all of the greyhounds entered into the competition will be added to the 1st Round draw, it is expected to be 72 greyhounds but it could be more depending on interest.
At 11am, live on Facebook, all of the greyhounds will drawn for their trap and race in the opening round of the competition. Later that day, each of those greyhounds will be assigned to a Limerick GAA Club. This will also be LIVE ON FACEBOOK so tune in to see who you’ll be cheering on this year!
As the competition continues over the 5 weeks to the Final and greyhounds continue through the rounds, so too do their nominated clubs.
GAA Club Prizes
Each of the Limerick GAA Clubs assigned to the 6 Finalists on Saturday 24th April are guaranteed a prize. The winning club will receive €10,000 and a free fundraising event, 2nd and 3rd placed will receive €5,000 and €2,000 respectively and each of the remaining 3 clubs will get €1,000 each.
There’ll also be fun events each week of the competition with chances for your club members to win prizes.
But how can we take part with COVID restrictions?
Just like Limerick’s All Ireland win in December, you’ll be cheering for your club’s nominated greyhound from the comfort of home.
Each of the races will be LIVE every Saturday night on a new online Greyhound Racing show called Talking Dogs TV. We’ll be giving you exclusive FREE vouchers to watch from home.
IMPORTANT: Register your clubs participation each week by simply tuning in to Talking Dogs TV. Normally, clubs sign in weekly at Limerick Greyhound Stadium, this year you need to sign in from home. When your club tunes in using your voucher code each Saturday, it will count as a registration for that week. You must register (i.e. tune in) each week that your greyhound is running.
We’re also putting together a Virtual Supporters Pack, which will be live after the draw on Tuesday, with fun social tools and tips on how your club can get involved. In previous years, clubs have got involved with our fun competitions and events like the Cic & Puc Fada and Banner Parade and this year is no different…just virtual!
For now, we’re including the dates and a draw reminder for you to share with the club and keep an eye on the Limerick Greyhound Stadium Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter for updates. You can find additional sizes to download on the Limerick Greyhound Stadium website on http://bit.ly/kirby2021clubimages, please feel free to pass this to the person managing your social media if that’s not you.
