Team by team guide to Limerick senior hurling championship Group 1:

THE action in the Bon Secours Limerick senior hurling championship begins this week when the opening round fixtures will be down for decision.

There are six teams competing in Section A (Group 1) of the competition, with reigning champions Na Piarsaigh joined by Patrickswell, Doon, Kilmallock, Ahane and Mungret-St Paul’s.

Among the highlights in Group 1 of the senior hurling championship is the meeting of holders Na Piarsaigh and Patrickswell in a repeat of last year’s county final.

That opening round fixture is due to take place at the TUS Gaelic Grounds this Friday, August 2 at 7.30pm.

Na Piarsaigh emerged victorious on a 1-20 to 0-19 scoreline when the teams met in the 2023 county final at the end of last October.

The action in Group 1 of the senior hurling championship gets underway this Thursday, August 1 with the meeting of last year’s beaten county finalists Doon and Kilmallock also at the TUS Gaelic Grounds at 7pm.

The opening round Group 1 action will conclude with the meeting of reigning senior B champions Mungret St Paul’s and Ahane in Claughaun on Saturday, August 3 at 7pm.

The top two teams in Section A (Group 1) aftetr the round robin phase will progress to the Limerick SHC semi-finals. Third and fourth in Section A play the teams that finish in first and second in Senior B in the Limerick SHC quarter-finals.

Similar to Senior A, Senior B sees six teams compete against each other in a round-robin series.

The second series of games take place on the follow week, with Patrickswell facing Doon on Friday, August 9 in Kilmallock at 7pm while, on the same evening, Kilmallock and Mungret-St Paul’s will go head-to-head in Bruff, also at 7pm.

The second round action in the Bon Secours Limerick senior hurling championship will be completed with the meeting of holders Na Piarsaigh and Ahane at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Saturday, August 10, 7pm.
