ST PATRICK’S GAA CLUB NOTES

St Patrick’s 2 10 Granagh/Ballingarry 1 13
Our Intermediate hurlers opened their championship campaign with a well deserved draw in Clarina.Saints opened the scoring when Colin Earls pointed from play before Granagh/B levelled minutes later. John Mullane goaled from close range and the game flowed from end to end with St Patrick’s leading by a point at half time, our scores coming from four pointed Calvin Moran frees and a classy point from play by Gearoid Hegarty.
Granagh/B had a great start to the second half when they scored 1 1 to move three clear. We were reduced to 14 men in the lead up to their goal and for the next ten minutes Granagh/B added four more points. We replied with a point through Gearoid Hegarty but six points down with ten minutes to go and against a stiff breeze things looked bleak.St Patrick’s showed huge character, guts and spirit from here on to keep Granagh/Ballingarry scoreless and added three points through Gearoid Hegarty who was dominating proceedings at this stage. The all important second goal came from sub Padraig Reale and another brilliant Hegarty score had the sides level at full time.
Huge Credit to all involved tonight.
Dromcollogher/Broadford are the opposition next Saturday at 6pm in Croagh.

Premier Minor Football
St Kierans 3 6 St Patrick’s 1 9
A big effort from the Minor team on Thursday night just fell short in the end .Playing up the hill in the first half in Coolcapagh, Saints were very unlucky to find themselves seven points down at the break. Both sides had goal chances , St Kierans found the net, we were unlucky on a few occasions. St Patrick’s began to dominate early in the second half with Andrew Mcmahon and Diarmuid Hegarty to the fore and had the lead back to three.St Kierans were to go back up the other end and hit us with a sucker punch and raise a green flag. St Patrick’s once again reduced the gap to three points with Kyle Mullins, Travis Quaid and Donnchadh O Callaghan kicking some great scores but St Kierans held on for the win, in a very good contest.
Three games remain in the group and St Patrick’s will know that they can have a big say in the Championship if they build on tonight’s performance.
