West Senior Football League:
St. Kierans 2.21 Rathkeale 1.13
The senior footballers made the short journey to Rathkeale on Monday evening last to take on the County Intermediate Champions in round 3 of the West League. Fielding a strong side we welcomed back several players for their first senior games of the season. We began the game brightly racing into a three point lead before Rathkeale found the back of the net on their first attack to tie up the game. while we were working extremely hard throughout the field up front our forward line were making particularly potent with Dylan Moloney and Eoin McEnery giving the Rathkeale defence several headaches. We led, 1.11 to 1.5 at the interval thanks to opening half scores from Dylan Moloney, Eoin McEnery, Sean Long, John Hayes and Alan Daly who found the back of the net for our goal. Rathkeale started the second half brightly and quickly reduced our lead to three thanks to their second goal before Alan Daly got his and our second goal of the game. We put in a strong final quarter with further scores coming from Kevin Meade and Fionn Gleeson as we increased our lead to eleven at the final whistle. The senior footballers are back in action on Saturday afternoon as we welcome Kildimo / Pallaskenry to Coolcappagh for our last home game of the league.

West Junior ‘B’ Hurling League:
St. Kierans 2.12 Drom/Broadford 0.18
The Junior hurlers returned to action on Sunday afternoon as they travelled to Dromcollagher to take on the home side in round 2 of the West League. Fielding an extremely youthful side we played some excellent hurling throughout the hour building on our first outing against a strong Croagh / Kilfinny side. We led by the slightest of margins at the break, 2.8 to 0.13 with Shane Fitzgerald, Oisin Ryan and Con Enright impressing. The second half was another keenly contested affair between two sides building towards their respective championship campaigns. While performing well in the second half we couldn’t find the decisive score as the home side reeled us back in and at the final whistle there was no separating the two sides. We are back in action this evening when we welcome Knockaderry to Coolcappagh for round 3. Team vs Drom / Broadford Eoghan Sheehan, James Woulfe, Mikey Breen, Dan Duggan, Oisin Ryan, William Steele, Charlie McDonagh, Derry O’ Connor, Con Enright, Sean Hughes, Cathal O’ Connor, Oisin Commane, Michael Murphy, Tony Doyle, Shane Fitzgerald, Fionn Gleeson, Mike Steele, Tadgh Dineen.
West Intermediate Hurling League Round 2:
St. Kieran’s 0.13 Feohanagh 1.10
The intermediate hurlers returned to action on Saturday afternoon following their comprehensive victory over Knockaderry in round 1 of the league. Fielding a team that showed six changes from the team that played in round 1 we began slowly against a Feohanagh side who were taking to the field for the first time this season. We trailed by four points at the half time break failing to score from play in the opening half with our scores coming from Ian Mackessy and Derry O’ Connor frees. There was a marked improvement in the second period as we worked hard to reduce our deficit and fight our way back into the game despite our numerical disadvantage having been reduced to fourteen men in the first half. Mid way through the second half Feohanagh were reduced to fourteen following the games second red card but by now we were well in the game reducing our deficit to one despite a second half Feohanagh goal. We were working extremely hard throughout the field as evident by reducing our opponents to eleven scores in total during the hours play. We trailed by one as the final whistle fast approached before a late point ensured that the two points were shared evenly between the two sides who will meet once again later this campaign in the County Championship.
Team vs Feohanagh Anthony Molyneaux, Aaron Heffernan, Diarmuid Mulcahy, Mossie Shine, Sean Long, Brendan McCarthy, Fionn Gleeson, Eoghan Sheehan, Cathal McEnery, Michael Long, Ian Mackessy, Cillian Meade, Cathal O’ Connor, Michael Murphy, Derry O’ Connor, Edward Fitzgerald.
