St. Kierans GAA Club Notes:

West Senior Football League Round 1:
St. Kierans 2.15 Fr. Caseys 1.9
Our senior footballers got their 2025 season off to a winning start on Saturday afternoon as they welcomed Fr. Casey’s to Coolcappagh for the opening round of the league. Despite missing several first team regulars we fielded a strong side against the 2024 County Championship runners-up. A brace of goals from Lorcan Murphy and Alan Daly ensured that we enjoyed a commanding lead, 2.6 to 0.1 inside the opening quarter which ultimately laid the foundation for the victory. By the half time interval, we had increased our lead to 2.9 to 0.1 against the inexperienced Abbeyfeale side shorn of the services of a few prominent players. To the inexperienced Casey’s team, they upped their performance in the third quarter and worked their way back into the game to reduce our lead to seven points on the forty-five-minute mark. As the final whistle blew, we emerged with a nine-point win to get our league campaign off to the perfect start and while we played some excellent passages of football during the hour sterner tests ultimately await as the year progresses and we must continue to work hard to progress. Well done to the players and management team in particular the younger players who stepped up to senior level from the Junior ranks.

Caseys Cormac Mann, Mossie Shine, Diarmuid Mulcahy, Anthony Mullins, Mike Shanahan, Brendan McCarthy, Lorcan Murphy, Darragh Treacy, Liam Kennedy, Fionn Gleeson, John Hayes, Sean Ryan, Luke Corrigan, Alan Daly, Eoin McEnery, Con Enright, Shane Fitzgerald, Shay Greaney, Oisin Commane, Mikey Long.
