County U20 ‘B’ Football Championship:
St. Kierans 2.13 St. Senan’s 0.5
The U20 footballers faced off against near neighbours St. Senans on Saturday afternoon in the County U20 ‘B’ Football Championship with the prize on offer for the winner a berth in the County Semi-Final. Fielding a strong side containing five players who played County Senior Football Championship this season as well as five starters from the County Junior ‘B’ Football Championship success we faced off against a St. Senans side who had proven to be very difficult opponents throughout the years at this level. We got off to a flying start racing into a six-point lead inside the opening quarter. This would increase to nine at the half time interval thanks to opening half goals from Cathal O’ Connor and Limerick U20 player Michael Long as we took a commanding 2.6-0.3 lead at the break. Knowing a win would secure direct passage to the County Semi-final and avoidance of a play-off we kept the pressure on in the second half against a Senans side shorn the services of several players. Overall, the management will be very happy with the team performance with each player contributing to the win. During the hour we had eight different scorers as we finished 2.13 to 0.5 winners. We now have a two week break in advance of the County Semi-Final as we await the conclusion of the play-offs to determine who joins the three group winners.
