St. Kierans GAA Club Notes:
County Intermediate Hurling Championship Round 1:
St. Kierans v Pallasgreen in Adare at 4pm
The Intermediate hurlers get their County championship campaign underway this Saturdaywhen they travel to Adare to take on East Limerick side Pallasgreen in the opening round. Having captured the County junior A hurling championship in 2022 we made the step up to the Intermediate ranks last season. We were extremely competitive in our five championship outings securing two excellent victories over Croom in the opening round and fellow West Limerick side Feohanagh. Defeats to Murroe/Boher, eventual County champions Granagh/Ballingarry and Knockainey meant we failed to secure a place in the knockout stages of the championship. Despite this the manner of our performances in our first year back at Intermediate level was very encouraging with several youngers players getting their first taste of County championship action which will undoubtedly provide them with invaluable experience ahead of the 2024 championship. In addition to Saturday’s opponents Pallasgreen we have been drawn in a very competitive group alongside County Finalists for the past two seasons Croagh/Kilfinny, Murroe/Boher, Bruree and County junior A champions Mungret/ St. Pauls B. Victory on Saturday afternoon is vital if we have aspirations of going one step further than last season and advancing to the knockout stages of the championship where the top three teams advance from the group, with first place advancing directly to the county semi finals and second and third to the quarter finals. We will be providing live score updates throughout the game on our social media pages and WhatsApp match updates group for those unable to attend.
