ST. KIERAN’S GAA CLUB NOTES

Charity Road Hurling:
THANKS SO MUCH to everyone who contributed to making St Kieran’s GAA charity road hurling on December 27th the most successful ever. We weren’t counting, but the numbers taking part were, without doubt, the biggest ever by a long way. Everybody’s generosity is amazing.
We’ll be keeping the gofundme page open for another week or so, when we’ll issue the final donation figure that we’ll be handing over to our charities, but we’ve already exceeded all expectations. To all who helped in anyway, including with refreshments along the route, a great big thank you too.
We’re very proud of the huge community spirit in our area. It was never more evident than it was at the road hurling on Dec 27th. Long may that continue.

Limerick Senior Footballers:
Limerick senior footballers got their 2022 campaign underway this past week with two games in the McGrath cup. On Wednesday evening an experimental Limerick side faced a daunting task against a seasoned Kerry team in Austin Stack Park, Tralee while on Sunday they played Tipperary in home environs in Rathkeale. Both games resulted defeat meaning Limerick bow out of the McGrath Cup with only the top team in each group advancing for the final next weekend. As a club we were well represented with seasoned campaigner Darragh Treacy lining out at midfield in both games while both John Hayes and Liam Kennedy made their senior competitive debuts. John was introduced in the second half against Kerry and despite
being named in the starting team against Tipperary he missed the encounter due to injury while Liam lined out at half back against Tipperary and put in a very promising performance. Limerick begin their National League campaign in three weeks’ time when they play Longford in round 1.
