South Liberties GAA Club Notes:

South Liberties Legends Golf Classic 2025:
Our Annual Legends Golf Classic took place last Friday June 20th in supreme weather conditions. Now in its 11th year, this one was magnificent. Ballyneety Golf Club was immense, with their incredible conditions and top-class preparations for their upcoming 2027 Junior Ryder Cup. John Leamy had everything down to a “tee”, ably assisted by his background team in all areas. As always, we had some famous sporting legends attend and this annual reunion of old rivals but lifelong friends was epic. Marty Morrissey was compere later on the night questioning our panel of Tomás Mulcahy, Pete Finnerty, Sambo Mc Naughton and Johnny Looby. We presented Marty with a copy of our recent publication “Green and Gold Ribbons”, commemorating our last 4 Senior County Final wins of ’72,’76,’78 and ’82. Nicky Byrne of Westlife also attended along with so many others. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors who contributed in so many ways, with all proceeds going towards the ongoing developments at Dooley Park.

Underage:
Our underage teams have started some of their competitions and we wish them all luck for the season. We have already won a County title, when our U13 lads had an amazing win over Patrickswell in hurling. Well done to this talented team and all their mentors.
Well done to Knockea NS School on winning this years Jack Leahy Cup and to Roxboro NS for winning the Maire Hourigan Cup.

Limerick Senior Hurlers:
Commiserations to our County hurlers who lost out to a strong Dublin team last Saturday in the ¼ final. These lads, including our own Barry Nash, remain heroes to each and every one of us. Their chapter for now closes but we wait in anticipation for their next. Luimneach Abú.

Limerick Senior Footballers:
A huge well done to our County footballers who have qualified for the Tailteann Cup Final for 2025 and will face Kildare in 3 weeks time.

Local Lotto:
Following on from the recent win of €9100 by Rose Moloney last May, our weekly lotto continues each week and is now heading for €1500. Play online or in our local public premises.

Condolences:
The club sends their sincere condolences to Sally Ann Hartigan, daughter to Pat & Kate Hartigan, on the passing of her husband Noel O’Toole. Ar dheis Dé to raibh a anam.
