South Liberties GAA Club Notes:
Junior Hurlers in Brian Butler Cup:
Our junior lads got off to a great start last week in the Brian Butler Cup against Kilteely/Dromkeen winning on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-16.
Mikey Butler Tournament:
Our U10 contingent are hosting a blitz this coming Saturday in Dooley park with teams from Bruff, Cappawhite and Hospital Herbertstown participating, from 11am to 2pm . This Cup is in memory of the great Mikey Butler from Knockea. Mikey was part of South Liberties when they won their first County juvenile title in 1958 when he was only a wee lad, not quite fourteen. Two years later when the County Minor title was annexed, Mikey was again a star on one of the finest combinations ever to grace the County Minor Championships of the time. In 1962 he represented Limerick in the Munster Minor Hurling Championship. Mikey soon became a permanent fixture in a great half back line for the Souths and was a pillar of the teams
that lifted the Senior County Titles in 1972,1976 and 1978. Good luck to all teams involved.
2024 South Liberties Legends 10th Anniversary Golf Classic:
This Friday coming June 21st marks the 10th anniversary of our Legends Golf Classic. We wish to thank John Leamy and his team for their hard work and commitment as always working behind the scenes to make this day a memorable one. Good luck to everyone.
Jack Leahy and Máire Hourigan Cups:
Congratulations to Roxboro NS boys and girl’s teams on winning both cups for 2024 and especially Luke McKenna on captaining Roxboro.
Parish Lotto:
Don’t forget to purchase your ticket to the local lotto as the Jackpot heads for €4500.
