South Liberties GAA Club Notes:
Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes Launch:
Many thanks to our Club Secretary Ger Nash for attending the launch of The Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stakes last Thursday March 7th. In conjunction with the Limerick Greyhound Stadium’s sustainability plan and also celebrating National Tree planting week, all clubs were invited to plant a tree for their Club. Round one begins on Saturday March 23rd, with the draws for greyhounds taking place on Tuesday March 19th.
Club donation to the Irish Kidney Association:
Following on from the sale and proceeds of our Club Calendar 2024, we are proud to announce that half the profits made were donated to the Irish Kidney Association, in memory of our past Club secretary Colin Moloney. Colins family made the huge decision to donate His organs in January 2023 so it was a fitting and appropriate organisation to contribute to.
Congratulations::
Huge well done to Sean Mc Mahon, who has been chosen to represent Limerick in the U14 Football Academy for 2024. Also, congratulations to Jack Sexton and Luke Mc Kenna, who have been chosen to represent East Limerick in the upcoming Primary Schools Mackey Cup competition.
East Limerick Gaels Awards:
The 2023 East Limerick Gael’s awards were held recently in the Millenium Centre in Caherconlish, in association with St. Ailbes Credit Union. Congratulations to our own Seamus Hartigan for his award. The authors of “1973, Keeping the Dream Alive” were also honoured as an Outstanding Achievement Award.
Club Limerick Draw:
The Club Limerick Draw for 2024 will have its first draw for the year on Saturday 30th March, so you still have time to join and be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes. Half of your proceeds come back to the Club.
Local Lotto:
The local Parish Lotto is almost €3000 and you can purchase your ticket for only €2 in any of our local public premises.
Upcoming Feile:
Best of luck to our Feile lads for next weekend as they participate in the preliminary rounds of the football section.
Underage Academy:
Our Spring academy for 2024 finishes this coming Friday evening March 15th. We wish to thank all our players, parents, coaches and volunteers for contributing to keep these sessions going each week. The best of luck now to everyone for the coming months with all blitzes and games.
New Senior Manager:
Wishing Albert Mc Sweeney the very best of luck as our New Senior Hurling Manager for 2024. Albert has been involved with our club for many years now in various roles, having served as Chairman at one stage, so He is well known within the club and Parishes. Best of luck to Albert and all the lads for the season ahead.
