South Liberties GAA Club Notes:

Chairman’s Address:
As we ended 2023, our Chairman John Godfrey reflected on a year of highs and lows, but ultimately a successful year.
Our Senior lads retained Senior Hurling status with an unforgettable performance last September against Garryspillane. Our Junior men won the Brian Butler Cup and went on to contest the Count Semi Final. Our U13 footballers won their County Divisional Final. Our U21 hurlers reached the A County semi-final. Our U15 footballers reached a semi-final.
Our Parish lotto continues each week and we had one jackpot winner in Helen Brosnahan. The jackpot is now heading for €2,000 and the draw continues each Tuesday night.
We saw our own 1973 Limerick Captain Eamon Grimes, along with Pat Hartigan and Joe Mc Kenna, being honoured all over Limerick, marking the 50th jubilee of that epic All Ireland Final Win. We presented them with a framed souvenir of that occasion at our Annual Legends Golf Classic, which was another massive success again.
We watched our brilliant County hurlers (and our own Barry Nash) win 5 Munster titles in a row and 4 All Irelands in a row and we all have high hopes now for 5 in a row – never before achieved by any County.
Our underage academy is still thriving and bringing in great numbers. Congratulations to Chris Blake who won an Xbox in the academy raffle and Mary Moloney who won the hamper in our online Christmas Where in the Parish quiz.
We had a couple of nice big winners in the Club Limerick Draw.
Our annual Family Fun Day was an extremely happy day out for our club and community as always.
We lost a lot of loved ones from our community and we saw more get engaged and married and new life born to others.
Thank you to Mike Fitzpatrick for standing in as secretary for the year having previously been an outstanding Chairman. And we also wish Ger Nash the best of luck as he comes back in as secretary for 2024.
Our 3rd Annual Road Hurling was another joyous occasion both during the day and the night. Congratulations to our winners
Senior Team : Enda Meaney, David Garry and Darragh Godfrey.
Ladies Team: Martha Stanley, Chloe Enright and Amy Enright.
Family Team: Morgan Kavanagh, Luke Kavanagh and Mark O Keefe.

The Club has great plans for the future development of the club grounds, namely the installation of a new gym for members and planning permission in for a Ball Wall. We will be having fundraisers over the coming months to help develop more, with our next big one being a Fashion Show in early February.
So, for now, we want to sincerely thank our hard-working committee, our amazing volunteers, managers, coaches, players, parents and sponsors and we wish everyone a happy and healthy and successful 2024. Go raibh míle míle maith agaibh go léir.
