SOUTH LIBERTIES GAA CLUB NOTES
TLC
A big thanks to all who turned up for the Good Friday Team Limerick Clean up. Great to see so many volunteers all around the parish helping out.
Senior Hurling
Our senior hurlers played Adare in round 2 of the #BSHSHC championship on Saturday and fell to their second defeat of the campaign. We now have a break in the championship till August and the lads will work hard during this period preparing for the remaining three games.
Junior Hurling
We played Ballybricken in our first outing in the East junior league on Tuesday evening. Like all games with our neighbors this was a close hard fought game with some meaty challenges but we eventually pulled away in the last few minutes to record our first win in the league. Leading on a scoreline of 0-8 to 1-02 at the break with the breeze at our back for the first half Ballybricken soon drew level at the start of the second half. Both sides exchanged points but two pointed frees from Shane Brosnahan in the final 10 minutes saw us win out 0-14 to 2-05.

Junior Football
We starter our league campaign with a good win over Ahane on Thursday evening. With 13 of the panel still U21 and another 2 just out of U21’s we had a young side on show but each one of the lads stood up to the challenge in a tough physical game. Shane Brosnahan opened the scoring with a point from play which was quickly followed by points from Sean Keane and Daniel Hurley. Ahane hit back with three points to level the game. The sides exchanged points again Sean Keane with two more for us. We were guilty of not taking some good scoring chances but our next score started in defense followed by some great passing and movement up the field the ball reached full forward Shane Brosnahan and quick as a flash he found the in rushing Daniel Hurley who fired into the top corner for an excellent goal. Ahane hit back with two more points to leave the sides level at the break 1-05 to 0-08.
Ahane started the second half on the front foot and opened up a two point lead before Sean Keane scored our first point of the second half. We quickly drew level and again the sides traded points and with ten minutes remaining the sides were still level. A point from Sean Keane was followed by our second goal Brian Garry finishing off another good move to increase our lead to four as we entered the final few minutes. Ahane scored a point and went in search of an equalizing goal but our defense stood up to everything that was thrown at them. We broke up one attack and worked the ball forward and Gabriel Burke O Dwyer scored our final point to see us win out on a final scoreline of 2-12 to 0-14.
