We are Munster Senior Hurling Champions for the third year running. Limerick had us worried at half time with a deficit of 10 points to Liam Sheedy’s Tipp Side, but the spirit of our panel came to the fore in the second half and surely had Limerick fans all over the world ecstatic with joy in those last few minutes. An amazing comeback from the Treaty Men and how proud are we of South Liberties Man Barry Nash on his outstanding performance last Sunday in Cork. Congratulations to John Kiely, all his background and all the players.
Final Score Limerick 2-29 Tipperary 3-21.
Our final that was due to be played last Saturday evening v Murroe Boher was postponed due to a family bereaved of our Captain Enda Meaney and his brother Michael. Their Aunt Annette Ahern (nee Meaney) sadly passed away, so the game was pushed out as a mark of respect. Annette’s brothers had played with South Liberties in the past so we now send condolences to the Meaney and Ahern families and May She rest in Peace.
The final will now take place on Thursday July 22nd at 7pm in Cappamore.
We want to wish Matthew Gaule well as he endeavours to play with Luxembourg GAA. They took part in a European tournament last week and Matthew togged out in the number 9 jersey. Check out photos on our website.
Work has begun today on the new walking track and will continue for the next couple of weeks. There will be machinery on site and some disruption around the Juvenile & Astro pitches as a result. So, from the hours of 9am to 6pm Mon – Fri for at least the next 3 weeks, the club facilities need to be a NO GO area for kids/teenagers/walkers etc. for safety reasons. Also, care will be needed accessing the juvenile pitch during training and match hours over the coming weeks.
Our new training tops, that our senior men received lately are now available to purchase online from O Neill’s. If interested, please log onto the following:…/Ireland/south-liberties-gaa.html
