SOUTH LIBERTIES GAA CLUB NOTES

U21 Hurling

We entered the U21 Hurling 13 aside championship again this year hoping to follow up on last years win in the same championship. We faced Claughan in our first round game on a blustery & showery Sunday morning. The game was even enough for the first 15 minutes with the sides level on 0-2 a piece John Hickey and Brian Garry with our points. A further goal and two points from Brian Garry saw us lead by 1-04 to 0-02 at the break. With the elements behind us in the second half four points from Jack Fitzpatrick inside the opening 10 minutes of the half increased our lead. Claughan pulled back a couple of goals but again we responded with Brian Garry adding his second goal of the game. We added another 6 points to the scoreboard before the final whistle to see us win out on a scoreline of 2-14 to 2-04. Team played very well in defense and attack with the only disappointment being the injuries picked up by Ben Garry and John Hickey. We wish them a speedy recovery and hopefully they will be back playing soon.
