SOUTH LIBERTIES

What a wonderful week we had in our Club last week.
Our U11 players had huge numbers out against Pallasgreen/Kilteely last Tuesday Sept 13th in Dooley Park in glorious sunshine.
On Wednesday, our U17 hurlers had an emphatic win over Claughaun and again on Saturday morning they travelled to Glenroe and won that game by 4 points. Final score South Liberties 1-19 to Glenroe 3-09. There were some exceptional scores and great team work displayed and the lads were taken back to The Four Elms for some food after.
On Saturday evening our Seniors had a brilliant win over Ballybrown, the final score being Saor Theas 3-18 to Ballybrown 1-20. This result now sets us up for a 1/4 final game V Doon in a few weeks time.
On Sunday our U10 players and mentors travelled to Murroe Boher to take part in Jim Commons memorial tournament and came out Victorious by a goal. Final score South Libs 5-02 to Murroe Boher 4-02. There was great excitement at the end and they were all treated to burgers and refreshments.
Family Fun Day.
Our family day turned out to be a huge success with massive numbers of members of our communities turning up. Our Child Welfare Officer Annemarie O Neill had organised everything perfectly and the weather was in our favour. Paul and Bill Hannon Many thanks to all those who baked buns and cakes etc , which were all delicious and sold out fully, as did our shop. Shane Mc Mahon and Des Ryan kept the hunger pangs at bay with the bbq burgers and pulled pork. Jack O Brien, Ger Moynihan and Michael Hartigan kept our train moving all day long. Noel Hartigan, Sean Godfrey and Colm Godfrey supervised the Long Puck, Cross bar challenge and solo runs. Thanks also for all the spot prize donations, one being 10 bales of straw from Donagh Mc Carthy. The Petting farm went down a treat with all our young members, where even one Hen decided to lay an egg on a little girl’s lap, much to her utter disgust. It was truly a wonderful event where people were able to put names to faces and faces to names. Huge credit to Annemarie, Ger Nash, Brid Kennedy, Jack and Mary O Brien, Diarmuid Kelly, Mike Fitzpatrick, Maurice Barrett, and so many many more for all the work behind the scenes on what was truly a wonderful day for everyone.
