Another great weekend for Limerick teams in Championship action
On Saturday evening, the Footballers made the journey to Fraher Field in Dungarvan to play Waterford in the Munster Senior Football Championship Quarter Final, after a very fine display they scored a well merited win by 2.14 to 0.09. Limerick will now play Tipperary in the Semi Final on Saturday next 7th. November in LIT Gaelic Grounds at 1.15pm. Tommie and Robbie Childs (Galtee Gaels) as well as Michael O’Donovan (Galbally) all played their part in the victory. On this Saturday 7th. November it’s the meeting of Limerick and Tipperary in LIT Gaelic Grounds in the Munster Senior Football Championship Semi Final and Best Luck to extended to Team Management and players
The Clash of the Hurling Champions in Pairc Ui Caoimh on Sunday attracted huge interest, Limerick had an opening Munster Senior Hurling Championship Quarter Final win in Semple Stadium on the previous Sunday defeating Clare by 0.36 to 2.23, which also doubled as the Division 1 Allianz Hurling League Final. Tipperary All Ireland Champions were the opponents in the eagerly awaited Semi Final, and the game played in very unfavourable weather conditions, saw Limerick emerge winners by 3.23 to 2.17 to reach the Provincial final where they will play Waterford on Sunday 15th. October at a venue to be decided. Well Done to all involved, especially Manager, John Kiely (Galbally) Nick Quaid (Effin), Sean Finn (Bruff), Graeme Mulcahy (Kilmallock) and David Reidy (Dromin-Athlacca) who all played their part in what was a great team display, while Barry Hennessy, Robbie Hanley and Paddy O’Loughlin ( all Kilmallock) were on the bench. Limerick will now Waterford in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship Final at a venue to be confirmed on Sunday 15th. November at 4pm. It will be game where Limerick be hoping to back to back Munster Hurling Championship finals since 1981
Also on Sunday the Ladies Footballers travelled to Clane Co Kildare to play Antrim in the All Ireland Junior Football Championship Round 2, another win was achieved following on their first round win over Derry last week, giving Limerick a place in the All Ireland Semi Final.
