COVID-19 UPDATE
Due to the country being moved into Level 3, all club games have been cancelled for the foreseeable future . Training can continue but it has to be in pods of 15 and it has to be non contact. South GAA wish to take the opportunity to thank all our Club, Officers, Mentors, Players, Volunteers and all involved within the clubs for their continued hard work and support especially throughout this very strange and difficult year for everyone.
JUNIOR ‘B’ CHAMPIONSHIP UPDATE :
In the South Junior ‘B’ Hurling Championship, Bruree have qualified for the Final, while Blackrock and Camogue Rovers are in the second Semi Final. In the Junior ‘B’ Football Championship there are still a number of teams involved to make the Semi Final and Final stages. At present, Camogue Rovers and Ballylanders are on top of the pile, with Galbally who have a game in hand hoping to reach the knockout stages, while Banogue who are due to meet , could if they record a victory would be in the knockout stages.
CONGRATULATIONS : South GAA extend Congratulations and Best Wishes to Eoin McGrath (Galbally) who has been selected to Captain Limerick Minor Footballers in the forthcoming Munster Minor Football Championship. Limerick will play Waterford in the Quarter Final game in LIT Gaelic Grounds on Saturday 24th. October.
BEST OF LUCK : Best of Luck is extended to Limerick Senior Footballers who play Wexford in Round Six of the Allianz Football League in Mick Neville Park on this Sunday 18th. October at 3pm.
MUNSTER GAA CHAMPIONSHIP DATES : Now that the County GAA Championships 2020 are almost complete in a year that there was always doubt about games being played owing to Covid 19 restrictions and guidelines, Munster GAA recently released the dates, times, venues for the Provincial Championships 2020. All fixture details are subject to change in line with Covid-19 related developments in advance of each fixture. Limerick will have a very busy schedule being involved in five Championships, Minor Hurling & Football, Under 20 Hurling, Senior Hurling & Football. The Seniot Hurlers will play Clare in the Munster SHC Quarter Final in Semple Stadium Thurles on Sunday 25th. October, this game also double up as the Allianz Hurling League Division 1 Final) The Senior Football team travel to Dungarvan to play Waterford on Saturday 31st.. October, while on the previous Friday 30th October the Minor Hurlers play Clare or Cork in the Munster Semi Final in Semple Stadium. The Under 20 Hurlers will plat Cork or Kerry in LIT Gaelic Grounds or Austin Stack Park Tralee. In the Minor Football Championship Limerick will host Waterford on Saturday 24th. October in LIT Gaelic Grounds in a Quarter Final game.
ALLIANZ FOOTBALL LEAGUE RESUMES THIS WEEKEND : Round 6 Allianz Football League, will resume on this weekend Limerick on top with 8 Points will host Wexford on this Sundat in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale at 3pm , followed by Antrim on 7 Points, who play Wicklow on 6 points with Wexford and Sligo who play Carlow on 4 Points
A home win in Rathkeale would put Limerick in a very strong position going into the penultimate round the following weekend, with Limerick travelling to play Sligo, while Wexford host Wicklow, and Antrim host Waterford.
