Round-up: 2024 Electric Ireland Celtic Challenge Finals:
The 2024 Electric Ireland Celtic Challenge ended on a high this weekend with six entertaining divisional finals taking place.
The 12 teams involved were whittled down from the 37 from 32 counties that took part in the competition, which began initially with a group phase that in turn led to a knock-out phase where teams were graded based on ability to ensure competitive matches against opponents of a similar ability.
Kilkenny triumphed over Tipperary Blue in the Division 1 Corn Michael Hogan Final today, but arguably the result of the weekend was Tyrone’s win over Sligo in the Division 4 Corn Jerome O’Leary Final.
The Red Hand County have had an incredible campaign that previously saw them beat noted hurling counties such as Offaly and Westmeath before they got the better of Sligo on Saturday.
Early goals from Liam Griffiths and Shea Monroe gave them a great start, and when a battling Sligo drew level in the second-half the Ulster side dug deep again to win a tremendous game of hurling.
