Rathkeale GAA Club Notes:

Victory Dinner Dance:
Rathkeale GAA Club celebrated a fantastic evening at Rathkeale House Hotel for our Victory Dinner Dance last Friday night. This celebration was to honour the outstanding achievements from the Intermediate Football County Champions, the U-20 Football County Champions, while also acknowledging the great season from our Junior A Hurlers.
We had our Chairman, Frank Geary, open the occasion, before passing the reigns over to Matt O’Callaghan, who was our resident MC on the night, and who performed admirably. We had councillor Adam Teskey, Seamus McNamara, Breda Breen, and Wayne Fitzgerald all in attendance and speaking, while Jimmy Lee was our special guest and presented the medals and awards, accompanied by local man, Jim ‘Blackie’ McEnery.
Congratulations to all our 2024 Players who won their respective awards:
Thomas Dillon and Mikey Meade – Intermediate Football Management
Barry Coleman and Andrew Meade – U20 Football Management
U20 Hurler of the Year – Niall Sheahan
U20 Footballer of the Year – Fintan McNamara
Junior Hurling ‘Managers’ Player of the Year – Darren Jones
Junior Hurling ‘Players’ Player of the Year – Mikey Morrissey
Intermediate Football ‘Managers’ Player of the Year – Adam Shanagher

We also had special Club recognition awards presented to the following, for their respective achievements for this year, and over the last number of years. Well done to all the winners:
Supporter of the Year – Janice Morrissey
Continued Longevity of Service – Mary Liston
Continued Longevity of Service – James O’Connor
Continued Longevity of Service – Pat Sheahan
Club Person of the Year – Dean Maune.
Special shout out to Dean, who is the driving force behind Rathkeale GAA, he is at every meeting, he has galvanised both the hurlers and footballers, to lead to the great successes of 2024, while still playing himself. He is an honest person, with an enormous heart for Rathkeale GAA Club and we appreciate everything he has done and delivered for the Club. The players also acknowledged Dean with a player’s gift for his commitment in 2024.
Finally, a few words of thanks. Thank you all to all our guests on the night, who turned out in great force. Thank you to the organising committee, who put in a wonderful effort and made the night a great success. Thank you to all our local sponsors who provided fantastic spot prizes on the night, and also to Shannon’s Balloon Boutique, for adding great colour and atmosphere to the occasion. A big shout also to Mr Swingman who belted out the songs, and also, Edmund Dollery, who unexpectedly stepped in with his professional camera services. Finally, a big thank you to Ann Madigan, and all her staff of Rathkeale House Hotel, who made this a very special occasion for all connected with Rathkeale GAA. Here is to the next Victory Social!
