Rathkeale GAA Club Notes:

Intermediate Footballers Bow Out of Munster Championship:
Our Intermediate Footballers made the journey to Kilshannig last Sunday morning, just a week after being crowned County Champions. This was a very tough task, as we took on the Cork Intermediate Champions in their own backyard. It was Rathkeale however, who opened the scoring with the opening point, before Kilshannig stormed into a lead, following up with the next 5 points. Rathkeale pegged back 2 points, however once again, Kilshannig finished the opening half the stronger, scoring a further 1-03, leaving the scoreboard reading 1-08 to 0-05.
Rathkeale battled hard in the second half, and there were periods where we made great strides in clawing back the lead, however Kilshannig found the net for a second time, which effectively killed the game. Bryan Meade found the net for Rathkeale in the dying minutes, to leave the final score reading 2-12 to 1-09. Our lads gave it their all, it was a gallant and strong effort, Kilshannig were just stronger on the day. Well done all the players and management of Rathkeale in both codes this year, it was a fantastic effort, it is brilliant to be County Champions once again, and to shine Rathkeale in a positive light. Well done to all.
Scor na nOg – Well done to Charlie Gilbourne:
Well done to Charlie Gilbourne, who sang in the solo competition in the Scor na nOg, which was held in Askeaton over the weekend. Charlie sang Dreams, by the Cranberries, which was fantastic. Well done to Charlie for representing Rathkeale GAA and St Joseph’s BNS so well. Also, well done to our Irish Officer, Shivaun O’Connor, for her continued support of Scor na nOg.
