RATHKEALE GAA CLUB NOTES

Nathan Lawlor Hough & Carmel Wilmot RIP

It has been a very sad and difficult week or two for the community of Rathkeale, and more importantly for the families & friends of both Nathan Lawlor Hough and Carmel Wilmot.

Nathan sadly passed away on November 17th, he was a wonderful young gentleman that played for the Club at U14 & U16 level, and at minor level this year. Nathan will be a huge loss to the Club and will be sadly missed.

Carmel passed away unexpectedly on November 21st, and again she will be a huge loss to the parish and community of Rathkeale and surrounding areas. Carmel was a true lady in every sense of the word and will be fondly missed.

May they both Rest in Peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Bloomers County Premier U21 Football Championship Group 2

Rathkeale’s run of defeats continued unfortunately on Sunday, when they lost out to Galbally. They entered the game having previously lost out to Monaleen and Newcastlewest. This was a much improved performance by the Rathkeale men, however they lost our narrowly in Kilbreedy on a scoreline of 1-08 to 1-07. That brings an end to their involvement in the U21 campaign with Monaleen, Newcastlewest & Galbally in poll position to advance to the knock out stages.

Annual AGM The Club will host the Annual AGM on Friday, November 29th at 7.30pm in Rathkeale House Hotel.

Nomination and motions should be made to the Secretary asap. We are looking for a good attendance, all welcome, we hope to see you there!

68th Annual Christmas Draw

Yes, it’s that time of year again! At this stage you will have received an envelope containing Rathkeale GAA Club Christmas draw tickets.

The draw committee are asking that you do your best to sell these. The draw, now in its 68th year, is one of your Club’s main fundraisers, and has never been so important with the erection of a spectator stand in progress in the Bog Garden.

As a Club, we have had great success recently, thanks in no small way to people like you who help to fund it via the Christmas draw. We are appealing to you to continue your support again this year.

You are also invited to the draw on Thursday 19th Dec (after the bingo), which will be held in the Community Centre, Rathkeale. Best of luck in the draw, let’s hope you will be a winner of one of the 50 fantastic prizes on offer!
