Preview: Weekend’s Allianz Football League action:

Saturday 8th March

Allianz Football League Division Four
Wexford v Wicklow in Chadwicks Wexford Park at 6pm

An important match in the south east between two counties, who believe that promotion can be attained.

Wexford have impressively stitched a four match winning sequence together to sit top of the pile.

Wicklow lost in London, but the recovery has been impressive since then with Oisín McConville’s talented outfit accumulating six points.

Eoin D’Arcy has been a key figure for Wicklow, who will relish this challenge against their neighbours.

Under John Hegarty’s stewardship, Wexford have established a solid foundation, but they’d welcome an opportunity to operate in Division Three next year where Mark Rossiter, Ben Brosnan, and others could prosper.

Sunday 9th March

Allianz Football League Division Three
Sligo v Clare in Markievicz Park at 1.30pm

A stirring win over Kildare ensures Clare head for Markievicz Park armed with hope and confidence.

Peter Keane’s team, prompted by a brilliant Keelan Sexton goal, finished with a real flourish to overcome the Lilywhites.

That was a vital victory for the Banner outfit, who are beginning to believe that further good days are imminent.

Considering the work carried out in recent years, it has been a disappointing start to 2025 for Sligo, who need to earn positive results quickly if relegation is to be avoided.

Niall Murphy remains a potent attacking threat, but ensuring the classy Sligo forward is provided with sufficient possession will be a key factor on Sunday.
