PATRICKSWELL GAA CLUB NOTES

UNDER 21 HURLERS: The U-21 hurlers bowed out of the Premier Championship after suffering defeat to a strong Na Piarsaigh side. Patrickswell started extremely positively and were dominant in the opening ten minutes. John Flynn and Josh Considine struck two points each as the ‘Well raced into a 0-4 to 0-1 lead. Na Piarsaigh settled into their stride and roared back into the match with a passage of one goal and three points without reply. At the twenty minute mark, the Caherdavin men were 1-4 to 0-4 ahead. Thankfully, the ‘Well had a second wind and notched four points in a five-minute surge. With five minutes remaining in the first half, the sides were level at 0-8 to 1-5. Unfortunately, Na Piarsaigh devastated Des Foley’s men with an unanswered blitz of 1-5 before the interval. The half-time score was a deficit of 2-10 to 0-8.

Patrickswell needed an immediate response at the start of the second half. However, Na Piarsaigh chalked up another 1-2 without reply in five minutes. The margin was now thirteen points at 0-8 to 3-12. John Flynn sparked a mini-revival with a haul of one goal and two points as the arrears were trimmed back to eight points at 1-10 to 3-12. There was no room for a dramatic comeback as the Light Blues increased their tempo and secured another 1-3 without response. As the game entered its final phases, Na Piarsaigh led by 4-15 to 1-10. Patrickwell added a few insurance points while exiting the competition on a scoreline of 1-12 to 4-15. Hard luck to the players and management.
