Patrickswell GAA Club Notes:

U20 Hurlers:
Patrickswell suffered defeat to Kilmallock in the second fixture of the Championship. The first five minutes produced plenty of action as Patrickswell trailed narrowly by 0-4 to 0-3 (Billy Earls, Harry McDonagh and Hugh Maher). Patrickswell failed to score for another twelve minutes as Kilmallock notched four additional points to open a 0-8 to 0-3 lead. However, the ‘Well surged back into the match with a flurry of a goal from Hugh Maher and four points from Billy Earls 0-2, Rory Foley and Dayle McDonagh. By the 25th minute, we led by 1-7 to 0-8. Unfortunately, the Balbec struck a goal and a point to reach half-time 1-9 to 1-7 ahead.
The start of the second half was positive. By the 40th minute, Patrickswell were 1-12 to 1-11 ahead thanks to Hugh Maher, Dayle McDonagh 0-2, Harry McDonagh and Liam Fitzgerald. Kilmallock delivered a crushing response with a goal and six points without reply in a six minute salvo. In the 45th minute, Patrickswell trailed by 2-17 to 1-12. This prompted a revival from the ‘Well, who trimmed the deficit to five points as a result of Hugh Maher’s goal and fresh points from Rory Foley and Dayle McDonagh. There were ten minutes remaining and we stood a chance at 2-19 to 2-14. The door was slammed shut as Kilmallock notched two goals and four points to Liam Fitzgerald’s solitary point. The result was a 4-23 to 2-15 defeat.

U16 Hurlers:
The U16 hurlers delivered a spirited performance in the Division 2 Championship final against Dromcollogher-Broadford. Our opponents edged the opening quarter, with five points to Ryan Foley’s goal. However, by half-time the teams were inseparable at 1-8 to 0-11 as Ryan Foley secured seven points and Eoin Hennessy hit another.
The initial fifteen minutes of the second half were dominated by Dromcollogher-Broadford’s six points, which Ryan Foley halted with a point. Patrickswell now trailed by 0-17 to 1-9. Ryan Foley scored his second goal and two more points, but our opponents also struck a goal and a point. There were five minutes left to claw back four points at 1-18 to 2-11. To their credit, Dromcollogher-Broadford increased their tempo and scored the last four points of the final to cement a 1-22 to 2-11 win. Hard luck to the players and management.

Club Lotto:
The club lotto draw on Monday October 13 was not won. The numbers drawn were 16, 23, 25 and 29. The bonus number was 30. The €50 Lucky Dips were won by Imelda Bennis and Joe Dore, while the €20 prizes were claimed by Mary Gillane, Avril Maher, Mary & Emma O’Reilly, Ger Clancy, John Murphy and Andrew O’Grady. This week’s jackpot is €4,400.
