
U16 Hurlers:
The U-16 hurlers defeated a heavily fancied Kildimo-Pallaskenry side in the Division 2 Championship semi-final. Patrickswell scored the first two points, but were pegged back by a goal. The ‘Well were unfazed and built a 0-7 to 1-0 lead by the 15th minute. Kildimo-Pallaskenry mounted their revival and rapidly outscored Patrickswell by seven points to one point over the next ten minutes. The scoreline after 25 minutes was a deficit of 1-7 to 0-8. Thankfully Patrickswell enjoyed a productive five minutes that yielded a goal and three additional points. By half-time, we were 1-11 to 1-8 ahead.
The second half was an intense struggle. Kildimo-Pallaskenry equalised with three consecutive points, but Patrickswell claimed the next four. In the 50th minute, the ‘Well led by 1-15 to 1-11. The match was heading for an exciting finish. Kildimo-Pallaskenry trimmed the deficit to 1-16 to 1-14 and they still had five minutes left. However Patrickswell’s defense was immense and we recorded an insurance point before full-time to clinch a 1-17 to 1-14triumph.
Camogie:
Patrickswell’s Intermediate Camogie team are contesting the Championship final against Templeglantine in Cooleyroe on Saturday October 11 at 1.00pm. Please support the ladies in their biggest match for decades.
Parish League:
The annual Parish League was played in warm and dry conditions. Our young boys and girls showcased their growing talents in front of a large attendance. Many thanks to O’Brien’s Pharmacy for their continued support and Cian Lynch for giving out the medals. The coaches should also be commended for the time and effort invested in training the children.
Junior C Hurlers:
Patrickswell lost to Garryspillane in a floodlit match at Knocklong. The home team were 2-2 to 0-2 ahead within fifteen minutes (Des Foley 0-2). Ten minutes later, the arrears were 3-4 to 0-2. Patrickswell recovered before half-time and trailed by 3-5 to 1-4.
The second half saw more Garryspillane dominance as they extended their advantage to 4-9 to 1-6by the 45th minute. Des Foley’s goal and five more points put some respectability on the scoreboard at 4-13 to 2-11. The last score of the match was a Garryspillane goal. The final group match is on Sunday October 12 at 3.00pm away to Ballybrown.
U20 Hurlers:
The U-20 hurlers host Ballybrown in Patrickswell on Saturday October 11 at 4pm.
Club Lotto:
The cllubLotto draw on Monday September 29 was not won. The numbers drawn were 3, 16, 19 and 27. The bonus number was 29. The €50 lucky dips were won by John & Orla Clifford and Grainne Guerin, while the €20 prizes were claimed by Eilis McDermott, Michael McDermott, Stephen Hunt, Ann Cusack, Breda Griffin and Noel Drummond. This week’s jackpot is €4,000.
