Patrickswell GAA Club Notes:
Camogue:
The camogie club took centre stage in a very successful weekend. In the Shannon Championship Final against Blackrock Effin, our U14s made a perfect start when Maisie Meehan hit the net within a minute. Katelyn Foley was in sparkling form as her six points put Patrickswell 1-6 to 1-3 ahead by half-time. Once again, Katelyn Foley took the battle to Blackrock Effin and sewed up the match with two goals and four points without reply. Brianna Murray added two points to clinch a deserved 3-12 to 1-3 win.
A few hours later, the Intermediate camogie team faced Galbally in the Championship semi-final. The opening quarter was extremely competitive as the sides exchanged three points apiece (Roisin O’Brien 0-2 and Sarah Fitzgerald). Ciara Barry and Sarah Carey ensured a narrow interval lead of 0-5 to 0-4.
At the start of the second half, Patrickswell experienced an important purple patch where we stormed 1-10 to 0-5 ahead thanks to Roisin O’Brien’s goal and two points, plus contributions from Sarah Fitzgerald, Rachel O’Grady and Sarah Carey. There were some nerves when a Galbally goal trimmed the advantage to five points. However Roisin O’Brien 0-2 and Ciara Barry settled Patrickswell to build a 1-13 to 1-6 lead. In the last minute, Sophie Carey’s goal confirmed a deserved 2-13 to 1-6 win.
