Patrickswell GAA Club Notes:
 
Senior Hurlers:
Patrickswell lost to Na Piarsaigh in the final group match of the Championship. While Diarmaid Byrnes scored the opening point of the match, Patrickswell were placed on the back foot when the Light Blues scored two goals and three points within six minutes. The ‘Well roared back into the match with goals from Evan Fitzgerald and Liam Fitzgerald in addition to a Diarmaid Byrnes point. After fifteen minutes, we trailed by 2-4 to 2-2. Na Piarsaigh enjoyed four consecutive points before Liam Fitzgerald halted the surge. The Caherdavin men edged the remainder of the first half as their five points exceeded Patrickswell’s trio from Liam Fitzgerald, Hugh Maher and Diarmaid Byrnes. The half-time score was 2-13 to 2-6.
Na Piarsaigh started the second half with gusto. Their six points eclipsed Diarmaid Byrnes’ score. After 45 minutes, Patrickswell trailed by 2-19 to 2-7. The rest of the game was delicately poised with both teams scoring seven points apiece (Diarmaid Byrnes 0-6 and Mark Carmody). The result was a 2-26 to 2-14 defeat.
Junior A Hurlers:
The Junior A hurlers lost to Claughaun in the Championship. Paudie Maher’s point was overshadowed by one goal and four points from our opponents in the opening ten minutes. The next quarter was dominated by Patrickswell, with six points via Dayle McDonagh 0-4, Kieran Long and Paudie Maher that closed the gap at 1-7 to 0-7. Unfortunately, Claughaun notched another goal and three points to reach the interval at 2-10 to 0-8.
Most of the second half was very low scoring, with Billy Earls and Peter Harty responding to five Claughaun points. There was only ten minutes left and Claughaun led by 2-15 to 0-10. The Childers Road side added four points while Peter Harty scored for Patrickswell. The final score was 2-19 to 0-11.
 
Junior C Hurlers:
Patrickswell’s depleted line-up were unable to halt our hosts Na Piarsaigh. In the first half, Des Foley’s brace was the only answer to Na Piarsaigh’s eight points.
Na Piarsaigh added a goal and three points before Des Foley halted the charge. After fifty minutes, Patrickswell trailed by 1-11 to 0-3. Dean Cawley added a consolation point, but Na Piarsaigh won by 1-13 to 0-4.
Club Lotto:
The club lotto draw on Monday September 8 was not won. The numbers drawn were 1, 9, 10 and 22. The bonus number was 6. The €50 Lucky Dips were won by John Hayes and Teresa Noonan, while the €20 prizes were claimed by Angela Doolin, Yvonne Lyons Dundon, David Hall, Breifni Flanagan, Ailish O’Connor and John Griffin. This week’s jackpot is €3,400.
