Patrickswell GAA Club Notes:
Senior Hurlers:
The Senior hurlers are slated to play Na Piarsaigh in the City Senior League final on Thursday May 30 at 7.00pm in Clarina
Junior A Hurlers:
Patrickswell reached the City Junior League final by virtue of beating neighbours Ballybrown away in the last group fixture. Our hosts stormed into an early three-point lead, but Eoin Harmon 0-2 and Calvin Carroll restored parity. The next ten minutes were keenly contested with Calvin and Eoin keeping the scores level at 0-5 apiece. Patrickswell reached half-time at 1-7 to 0-6 ahead when Eoin Harmon notched a goal and two points.
The initial ten minutes of the second half were closely contested with four points traded for 1-11 to 0-10 (Eoin Harmon 0-3 and Josh Carey). Patrickswell surged ahead by seven points when Eoin Harmon scored another pair and Kieran Long chipped in. Ballybrown forced themselves back into contention for a 55th minute score of 1-14 to 0-13. By the 60th minute, we led by 1-16 to 0-14 thanks to Eoin Harmon. A late Ballybrown goal and point set slashed the deficit to a solitary point and set up the grandstand finale. Thankfully Patrickswell prevailed by 1-17 to 1-15 with Eoin Harmon’s late point. The reward is a City Junior A final against Mungret on Saturday June 1 in Crecora at 7.00pm.
Inter-County Hurlers:
Congratulations to Limerick’s hurlers and the Patrickswell contingent of Diarmaid, Aaron, Cian and Jason for beating Waterford in the last group encounter of the Munster Championship and securing a provincial final against Clare.
