JUNIOR A HURLERS: The Junior A hurlers are playing Old Christians in the City Championship on Sunday August 11 at 7pm in Rhebogue.

MINOR HURLERS: Patrickswell were unlucky to lose their Premier Hurling Championship match after an exciting and physical tussle in Ahane. Patrick Kirby struck the opening point, but the ‘Well were stunned by an onslaught of 1-6 without reply from Ahane. While other clubs would have collapsed, Patrickswell rolled up their sleeves and blitzed the hosts with eight straight points. Patrick Kirby notched seven of the points, while John Kirby chipped in with a point. The scoreline after a breathless 25 minutes was tied at 0-9 to 1-6. Ahane stopped the rot with a point, but Shane Hannon equalised just before half-time.

The second half was more conventional and dogged. Patrick Kirby added another two points; however Ahane levelled quickly. Another Patrick Kirby point was cancelled out immediately. The ‘Well appeared to take control with three straight points from Eoin Harmon (0-1) and Patrick Kirby (0-2) in the middle of the half. Ahane edged back into the contest with two unanswered points. With ten minutes left, Patrickswell led by 0-16 to 1-12. Cormac Kerins’ point opened up a two-point advantage. Unfortunately, Ahane rallied in the closing minutes and thwarted the ‘Well by scoring three unanswered points. The result was a 0-17 to 1-15 reverse.

The Minors have a busy week, with two Premier Championship matches to fulfil. On Wednesday August 7, Patrickswell visit Mungret, while we host Garryspillane on Friday August 9 at 7pm.
