Patrickswell GAA Club Notes:
The U-21 hurlers suffered defeat in their opening fixture of the Premier Championship against Na Piarsaigh. Patrickswell made a great start when Patrick Kirby’s point was quickly followed by Liam Fitzgerald’s goal. However Na Piarsaigh roared ahead with a goal and six points to lead by 1-6 to 1-1 after just six minutes. The next ten minutes were level pegging as the teams traded five points apiece (Patrick Kirby 0-4 and John Kirby) to make the score 1-11 to 1-6 in favour of Na Piarsaigh. However, the Caherdavin team dominated the closing stages of the first half to build an unassailable 1-16 to 1-7 lead.
Na Piarsaigh continued their dominance with a salvo of one goal and seven points without reply in the first ten minutes of the second half. Patrickswell were now 2-23 to 1-7 adrift. Billy Earls and Patrick Kirby points were sandwiched between Na Piarsaigh points, but the Light Blues secured another goal and point to lead by 3-26 to 1-9 in the 50th minute. A point from Patrick Kirby and a goal from Billy Earls were exceeded by five additional points in Na Piarsaigh’s column. The final score was a 3-31 to 2-10 reverse. The next fixture is scheduled for Friday November 10 at 7.30pm against Cappamore in Caherdavin.
