PATRICKSWELL GAA CLUB NOTES

JUNIOR A HURLERS: Patrickswell claimed our first silverware of the season when the Junior A hurlers beat Claughaun in the City League final. The match started badly for the ‘Well after Claughaun scored a goal within two minutes of the throw-in. However, our opponents were devastated by a ten-minute spell where Peter Harty registered an extraordinary hat-trick of goals. The scoreline after 15 minutes was 3-2 to 1-1. Claughaun narrowed the gap with three consecutive points, but their recovery was halted by a point from Jamie Dillon and a fourth goal and fresh point from Peter Harty. Patrickswell were now ahead by 4-4 to 1-4, before Claughaun closed the first half with two points.

The second half began positively for Claughaun as they notched another two points and trimmed the deficit to five points. Owen McNamara, Darragh Ahern and Paul Bennis struck a point apiece as Patrickswell matched Claughaun score for score. With fifteen minutes left, Patrickswell were ahead by 4-7 to 1-11. The five point margin was still a worry, before Anthony Carmody’s men claimed seven unanswered points to clinch the match. The scorers were Peter Harty (0-3), David Woulfe (0-2), Jamie Dillon and Darragh Ahern. Owen McNamara lifted the trophy on the back of a 4-14 to 1-12 triumph.

INTERCOUNTY HURLERS: Best wishes to all our Inter-County hurlers that will line out for Limerick this weekend.

LOTTO: Congratulations to Yazmin Delee, who scooped €13,000 in the Club Lotto.
