JUNIOR B HURLERS: The Junior B hurlers secured an excellent away win in Doon in the City East League. The opening ten minutes were played at a ferocious tempo as the teams exchanged four points apiece. The home team scored their opening goal, but Patrickswell drew level at 0-7 to 1-4 by virtue of three consecutive points. By the 25th minute, the teams were still inseparable at 0-10 to 1-7. The ‘Well edged the closing stages of the first half to lead by 0-13 to 1-8 at the interval.
The second half began competitively with a further exchange of four points apiece in ten minutes. Patrickswell extended their lead to four points at 0-19 to 1-12 by the 45th minute with a brace of points. The match was back in the balance when Doon scored their second goal and moved within a point of Patrickswell. By the 56th minute, the scores were level again at 0-21 to 2-15. Thankfully Patrickswell slotted over two points in quick succession and restricted Doon to a solitary point before the final whistle. The final score was a 0-23 to 2-16 victory.
INTER-COUNTY HURLERS: Commiserations to the Patrickswell contingent of Patrick Kirby and John Kirby for pushing Kilkenny so close in the All-Ireland U-20 Hurling Final. We are proud of your achievements, which yielded a Munster title.
CLUB LOTTO: The Club Lotto draw on Wednesday May 18 was not won. The numbers drawn were 10, 22, 26 and 31. The bonus number was 8. The €100 Lucky Dip was won by Jackie O’Carroll and the €20 prizes were claimed by Tara O’Connell, Elve Vahenomm, Liam Justin, Richard Bennis and Luke O’Connor. This week’s jackpot is €15,000.
CARRIE GILLANE CLANCY MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT: The Carrie Gillane Clancy Memorial Tournament takes place on Saturday May 28 at 2.00pm. Patrickswell will be joined by camogie teams from Mungret, Monaleen and Ballybrown. Refreshments will be available on the day and there will be a signed Limerick jersey for the ‘Guess the Score’ competition.
