PALLASGREEN GAA CLUB NOTES

COLIN RYAN ALL IRELAND CHAMPION: Colin Ryan was crowned national Poc Fada champion last Saturday in Co Louth. The man from Lough won the Corn Setanta trophy after winning the M. Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada final at Annaverna Mountain in the Cooley Peninsula. Colin who won an All Ireland Senior Hurling medal with Limerick in 2018 winner in 2018, Colin Ryan became the fifth Limerick man to be crowned national Poc Fada champion. In 2019 Colin finished in fourth place in the All-Ireland Poc Fada final – just four shots behind the winner Cillian Kiely from Offaly. With Covid-19 ensuring no competition in 2020, Colin was among those invited to take part in last Saturday’s 2021 event. He was presented with the Corn Setanta by GAA President Larry McCarthy. Congratulations to Colin on a magnificent achievement.
INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP: Pallas bowed out of the intermediate football championship after 1-11 to 0-5 defeat to St Senans in Clarina last Sunday Afternoon. Played in driving wind and rain Pallas were in the game for long periods and it was only in the last quarter that the westerners came out on top and with an extra player. With only three points separating the side at half time 0-6 to 0-3 in favour of St Senans Pallas were full of character and commitment but it took an injury time goal from the Shannon –Estuary men to seal the issue. JUNIOR B HURLING: The Junior B team championship aspirations ended in Pallasgreen last week after 0-17 to 1-11 defeat to South Liberties. The half time score of 0-11 to 0-2 in favour of South Liberties was the catalyst of this set back. A gallant second half performance wasn’t enough and Liberties march into the next round.
