Pallasgreen LGFA:
The County Junior A Championship final in Rathkeale last Sunday afternoon proved a disappointing end to the season for the Pallas ladies, as they fell to a strong St Senan’s side in a game that never truly sparked into life from a Pallas perspective. Having developed a spirited rivalry over the past few seasons, the two teams were expected to deliver another close and hard-fought contest. However, this particular chapter belonged firmly to St Senan’s, who brought greater intensity and a clinical edge that ultimately proved decisive.
Despite a cagey first half in which defences were on top, St Senan’s held a narrow 0-6 to 0-3 lead at the break. Pallas were still very much in the contest at that stage, though they had struggled to find fluency or rhythm in their play.
The second half, however, saw St Senan’s raise their game while Pallas struggled to keep pace. Two well-taken goals by the Foynes side shifted the momentum irreversibly and put daylight between the teams. Pallas battled bravely to stay in touch but couldn’t claw their way back into contention.
The final scoreline read St Senan’s 2-10, Pallas 0-5, a disappointing result on the day, but not one that should overshadow what has been a proud and inspiring season for the Pallas ladies.
Huge credit is due to the entire panel and management team for their commitment and determination throughout the year. They’ve represented their club and community with pride and passion, and their journey to the final was marked by many memorable performances.
A word of thanks as well to the supporters, especially the younger fans, who travelled in large numbers and brought great energy and colour to the occasion. Days like these are built on community spirit, and the support did not go unnoticed. While the final result didn’t go Pallas’s way, the future remains bright. With lessons learned and experience gained, the team will no doubt come back stronger.
