Co Inter Hurling Championship Play off:
Intermediate hurlers produced a stunning display of passion, pride and power last Thursday night in Knocklong to ensure their place in the intermediate ranks for 2026, brushing aside Croom in emphatic fashion with a 5-19 to 0-11 victory. Facing the looming spectre of relegation to junior hurling for the first time since 1988, Pallas came into this play-off with a clear message: they weren’t going down without a fight and from the first whistle, they let that be known. It took less than a minute for Pallas to hit the front, and they did it in the most emphatic way possible. Brian Fanning, home from Australia and making his presence count, blasted the sliothar to the net to give his side the dream start. It set the tone for the hour. David Murphy followed up with another green flag soon after, and despite playing into a stiff breeze, Pallas hurled with grit and efficiency. They were first to every ball, tighter in the tackle, and ruthless in front of goal. By half-time, they had built a commanding 2-7 to 0-6 lead. If the first half was impressive, the second was nothing short of dominant. The Pallas attack found another gear entirely, with three more goals killing off any chance of a Croom comeback. Robert O’Donnell, Colm McMahon, and Malachy McKenna all raised vital green flags, while points flowed freely from all angles. Every line of the field stood up and delivered, from the rock-solid defence to the energetic midfield and clinical forwards.
Croom, to their credit, tried to rally, but they simply had no answer to the Pallas onslaught. Their attacks were repeatedly broken down, and they struggled to keep pace with the intensity and sharpness of the Pallas men.
By the final whistle, the scoreboard told the story: a 23-point win, and more importantly, survival secured. There was relief scenes at full-time as players, management, and supporters alike celebrated the result that keeps Pallas at intermediate level. A special word must go to brothers Brian and Darragh Fanning, who extended their trip home from Australia to line out with their teammates. Their commitment typified the spirit shown by this group when it mattered most. Team; T. McMahon, D. O’Dea, K. McMahon, N. McNamara, K. Barry (0-1), T. Hourigan, K. O’Donnell, T. Franklin (0-1), P Phelan, P Roche, D. Fanning (0-2), D. Murphy (1-1), B. Fanning (1-5), C. McMahon (1-3), M. McKenna (1-2). Subs: R O’Donnell (1-2), C Ryan (0-1), A. Greene, PJ Butler, A Moloney.

U14 Footballers team complete County double:
History was made in Cappamore last Saturday as the Pallasgreen U14 girls football team clinched the County B Shield Championship, edging out neighbours Oola in a pulsating contest and in doing so, completed a remarkable county double title for 2025. Played in front of a passionate crowd of family, friends, and supporters, the match was an exhilarating affair from start to finish, with both sides giving everything in pursuit of glory. The fierce local rivalry only added to the drama, as the game unfolded in a welter of excitement and emotion.
From the throw-in, it was clear this would be a battle to the final whistle. The sides were neck and neck for much of the game, trading points and goals in a brilliant showcase of underage football. Pallas showed real grit and composure, particularly in defence, and when the final whistle blew, they had done just enough to emerge victorious 4-5 to 3-7 the final score. There were joyous scenes at full-time as the players, mentors, and supporters erupted in celebration, marking not just a hard-fought win, but a moment of history for the club. The Shield victory follows on from last week’s camogie county title completing a stunning double for this talented group of players.
