Pallasgreen GAA Club Notes:
Junior Ladies Capture Co Final:
There was joyous scenes at the end of the Junior B Championship football final in UL Maguires Field following the girls victory over Croom last Sunday morning. This victory wiped away the disappointment at this stage last year when they came narrowly close to securing its first title. Played in October sunshine before a fine attendance, the girls were dominant from the start and took the lead with a point from Cliodhna Ryan. Just as they were getting to grips in the vast 4G pitch, Croom scored a scrambled goal. After this minor setback Pallas regrouped and further points from Caoimhe Butler got the team back on track. Approaching the half time whistle Croom yet again scored a fortuitous goal to lead at half time 2-0 to 0-3. The second half was a total transformation, right from the throw in, a brilliant move ended with Hannah Dillon restoring parity with a goal. From there on Pallas took complete control of the game, another goal from Caoimhe Butler and points from Eabha Hourigan (2)and Grace Leadan had them firmly ahead 2-6 to 0-3. Croom scored with their only point of the game but again Pallas responded with a goal from Sinead McGuinness and further points from Caoimhe Butler put the game out of reach from a gallant Croom side who goaled nearing full time. Pallas saw out the game knowing finally they had reached the summit and when the final whistle sounded they captured the county title on a scoreline of 4-11 to 3-1. The game finished unpleasantly for two players, Sarah Dillon and Kaelin Ryan who suffered nasty injuries and we wish them well in their recovery. The last act of the day was the cup presented to Captain Roisin McCarthy. Team; Leah Butler, Aoife Connolly, Ciara McNamara, Kaelin Ryan, Aoibhe Rodahan, Aine Looby, Niamh Mulcahy, Sarah Dillon, Aine Dillon, Grace Leadan (0-1), Cliodhna Ryan (0-3), Sinead McGuinness (1-0), Eabha Hourigan (0-2), Caoimhe Butler(2-5), Roisin McCarthy.
