LOCAL NOMINATED DOG WINS WORLD’S RICHEST RACE: Pallasgreen GAA club were celebrating to the tune of €10,000 last Friday evening in the Limerick Greyhound Stadium when their nominated greyhound Swords Rex won the prestigious Con & Annie Memorial, the richest puppy derby in the world. Trained by renowned trainer Graham Holland and owned by Barbara Lowndess he was impressive all through his heats and in the final he strode majestically to win handsomely. The club was represented by all sectors of the club to witness the great occasion. A special thanks to JP McManus and the McManus family for their magnificent sponsorship of the derby and to the Limerick Greyhound Track for their hosting and hospitality of the event. Congratulations to all involved on a memorable occasion.
CO MINOR HURLING; Limerick got their championship campaign back on track with a resounding win over Kerry in Kilmallock recently. Well done to Tadgh Hourigan who was a second half substitute and scored a goal.
EAST SENIOR HURLING LEAGUE: The intermediate hurlers battled valiantly against last year’s Premier finalists Cappamore in Pallas last week. Minus several players they were behind 0-10 to 1-11 at the break. Cappamore were the better team throughout but Pallas never gave up and came up short at the finish by 1-21 to 1-16. CITY EAST JUNIOR HURLING LEAGUE; The Junior hurlers were unlucky not to come away with full honours from this encounter with Monaleen in Monlaeen last week. A last minute goal from the home side won the game by 0-14 to 2-10.
