OOLA

Senior Football
Oola faced Galbally in the final round of the senior football championship on Sunday 25th September in Cappamore. This was a must win game for both teams with the loser facing Ballylanders in a relegation final the following weekend.
Oola got off to the perfect start with a Josh Ryan free within 30 seconds of the start, however, shortly afterwards Galbally found the back of the net. Oola settled again with a another free from the boot of Josh Ryan. Again, Galbally netted a goal and we found ourselves behind by 4 points. The next goal went in favour of Oola with great play and work from Colin O’Grady, Josh Ryan found the back of the Galbally net. The second Oola goal came courtesy of Alan Daly leaving Oola 3 points in front. However, against the run of play Galbally found the back of the net for a third time. Oola rallied again with 2 more points in the half, leaving the half time score Oola 2-5 to Galbally’s 3-2.
The second half started like the first half with Oola and Galbally exchanging points. Unbelievably, Galbally scored a fourth goal mid-way through the half putting them 3 points ahead on a score line of Oola 2-7 Galbally 4-4. Oola scored the next 7 points, with points coming from Josh Ryan, Eddie Stokes Alan Daly and a point from Raymie Ryan on his championship return.
The team fought hard and palyed good football, with the final score was Oola 2-14 Galbally 4-4 much to the relief of Oola, who remain Senior for 2023. Thanks to the players and management of Kem Downey, John Clifford and John Heuston.
